CinEast is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year and it has grown substantially since the festival in 2011.

CinEast celebrates its 5th birthday

In 2012, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia have been joined by six new countries - three Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) as well as Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. This means that the Luxembourg public can see some of the best cinematographic work from a total of 12 countries from the former Communist bloc. With over 50 feature films and 40 short films on offer, the festival provides a fine, varied and in-depth look at the film production of the region.

Around 20 guests (directors, actors, producers etc.) are coming from all over Europe to meet you in the cinemas. The screenings are complemented by many special events: a large photography exhibition at the Abbaye de Neumünster, a big closing concert/party at Tramsschapp Cultural Centre (Limpertsberg), special Balkan and Baltic nights at Melusina, a VJ/DJ evening at d:qliq, and a lot more besides. As in previous years, you will have the opportunity to taste typical snacks and drinks after many of the screenings and enjoy a wide selection of Central and Eastern European dishes at our gastronomic evenings.
